Here’s what usually happens during a session at Flow Reiki and Wellness, and what you can expect to feel.
You’ll Start by Settling In
When you arrive, we’ll talk briefly about:
What’s been weighing on you
Any physical tension or emotional heaviness
Your intention for the session
Your comfort level with light touch
You can share as much or as little as you want. Some people talk for five minutes, while others talk for twenty — both are perfectly okay. Reiki is collaborative, but it never demands vulnerability you’re not ready for.
You Stay Fully Clothed + Get Comfortable
This tends to surprise people — Reiki is not massage and doesn’t involve manipulating muscles. You’ll lie on a comfortable table (or sit, if that’s better for you), fully clothed, under a blanket if you prefer.
You get to let your body exhale — sometimes for the first time in weeks.
The Reiki Begins (and This Is Where People Really Relax)
I’ll move through hand placements either gently on or slightly above the body. Most people describe sensations like:
Warmth
A gentle pulsing
Waves of calm
Tingling
Emotional release
A feeling like time slows down
Some people don’t feel anything specific at all — they just feel better. There’s no wrong experience.
Reiki helps activate your body’s parasympathetic nervous system, which is the “rest and restore” mode most of us forget how to access in daily life.
Your Mind May Wander (Totally Normal)
Some clients fall asleep.
Some talk.
Some zone out in that comforting half-dream space.
Your body knows what it needs more than your mind does — Reiki just helps the door open.
After the Session: Integration
You’ll have a few minutes to slowly come back, drink water, and talk through anything that came up:
Physical sensations
Emotions
Memories
Imagery
Shifts in energy or mood
Think of it as a gentle transition back into the world, feeling a little lighter, clearer, and more grounded.
How You Might Feel Later
People often report:
Deeper sleep
Emotional clarity
Ease in their body
A calmer baseline
Softer edges around their stress
A sense of returning to themselves
Sometimes emotions come up later — this is normal and part of the release.
A Note From Someone Who’s Been There
When I first walked into Reiki, I was in full burnout mode — the kind only teachers, caregivers, and overextended women truly understand. And yet, Reiki met me exactly as I was.
Now, I try to offer that same safe space for others.

If you’re curious and your body is asking for a reset, you’re welcome to book a session at Flow Reiki and Wellness. No pressure, just a space to breathe again — maybe for the first time in a long time.
The Benefits of Reiki
Reiki offers numerous benefits that can enhance your overall well-being. Here are some key advantages:
Stress Reduction
One of the primary benefits of Reiki is its ability to reduce stress. Many people experience a profound sense of relaxation during and after a session. This relaxation can lead to a decrease in stress-related symptoms, such as anxiety and tension.
Emotional Healing
Reiki can help release emotional blockages. As you relax, you may find that emotions surface, allowing for healing and release. This process can lead to greater emotional clarity and resilience.
Physical Healing
While Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment, many individuals report physical benefits. These can include relief from pain, improved sleep, and enhanced overall health.
Enhanced Self-Awareness
Reiki encourages self-reflection and self-awareness. As you connect with your body and emotions, you may gain insights into your life and well-being.
Improved Energy Flow
Reiki helps to balance the body's energy systems. This can lead to improved energy levels and a greater sense of vitality.
Conclusion
Reiki is a gentle and effective healing practice that can benefit anyone, regardless of their experience level. Whether you’re seeking stress relief, emotional healing, or simply a moment of peace, Reiki can meet you where you are.
