4 Key Takeaways from Our Successful Retreat

Last weekend, I, Yoga Instructor Hannah Mittel (@bmore_yoga), and Holistic Nutritional Coach Tara Wilson (@nourishbytara) organized the Restore, Recharge, Reclaim Retreat at Nourishing Journey. We welcomed six wonderful participants who approached the event with open hearts. The positive energy in the room was palpable, enhanced by the gentle yoga, group reiki meditation, and nutritional coaching session. Tara provided samples of her incredible energy bars, and we felt stress dissipate with each activity. We concluded the retreat with a meaningful manifestation ceremony using cinnamon and bay leaves. Participants expressed interest in more sessions in the future, possibly even an overnight experience! I am thrilled to start planning future events to share Reiki with others.

While reflecting on our chronic nervous system overwhelm and state of sympathetic overdrive, a few key themes emerged.


  1. We often store stress in our bodies. Under stress, we can hold tension in unexpected areas, leading to injury, chronic pain, or illness.

  2. Many expressed a desire to return to a state of calm and stillness. They described their worlds as chaotic, making it challenging to find time or mental space to enjoy the calming effect of simple stillness.

  3. The need to connect with our authentic selves was a recurring theme. The world often imposes expectations and standards that distance us from our true, natural selves, making it easy to lose sight of what once brought us joy.

  4. The manifestation ritual symbolically allowed us to release chronic overwhelm and welcome peace and stillness into our lives.
